1999 Sunday 18th July.The event attracted 186 exhibitors and approximately 18,000 visitors. Warrington Guardian produced the event programme and promoted the event across Cheshire and south Lancashire through their newspaper group, The team at the Warrington Guardian introduced us to the world wide web, with their help and Sue at Skill Zone we launched www.disabilityawarenessday.co.uk this has taken DAD to a world wide audience. DAD Week took on a new meaning with over 20 events designed to support DAD, one of the highlights was the Crucial Crew Safety Event that involved the police, fire, ambulance services, BT, Northwest Water, Manweb, Road safety and three hundred children from Warrington's Special Schools PHAB postponed their Heartbeat Hike and through popular demand the DAD team launched the Pulse sponsored walk/push The Arts Marquee and Main Arena attracted nationally acclaimed artists who were supported by full programmes Leonard Cheshire took the opportunity to promote the opening of their Warrington based Northwest office by sponsoring the DAD VIP and Sponsors Reception held in the Hall during the day of the event. Members of the management team promoted DAD at a variety of events across the UK. Later in the year DAD received a national Enabled award from Leonard Cheshire. |
