Disability Awareness Day Sunday 12th July 2009

2000 Sunday 23rd July.

The event attracted 210 exhibitors and approximately 20,000 visitors, and received the accolade as Europe's largest voluntary led Independent Living Exhibition. Arthritis Care brought their national road show vehicle to the event.

Mathew Kelly presented the awards at the Aiming High ceremony which recognised the achievements of disabled children and young people, his charisma was plain to see, the children loved him, especially one young boy who regularly wrote to Mathew and thought it was fantastic to eventually meet his hero.

Michele Lewis (now MBE) was our special guest for the Pulse, Michele was 17 years old and had already raised over £900,000 for charities.

Leonard Cheshire sponsored the DAD VIP and Sponsors Reception for the second year and took the opportunity to promote the launch of their Griffith's Court respite care project.
