DAD Week 2016

The week leading up to DAD is always full of exciting and interesting events, starting with the popular DAD Launch in Warrington town centre

Saturday 2nd July

10.45am to 4.30pm: Launch of DAD 2016
Old Market Place, Golden Square Warrington Town Centre
An Arts Showcase will launch a week of disability related events in the build-up to this year’s Big Day. Our host for the day will be Patsy from Radio General. Free Admission, please contact DAD Team 01925 240064 for more information.

Tuesday 5th July

9.30am to 12.30pm: Schools Disability Matters Schools Event
Walton Hall, Walton Gardens
Students from schools across the area will attend our annual interactive awareness event aimed at dispelling myths and misconceptions associated to disability and disabled people. Invitation only please contact Derek Jones 01925 240064

1pm to 3pm: Wise Up Event. Schools Event making young people aware of Hate Crime and bullying.

7.00pm to 10.30pm: Frogtastic
Arts Marquee Walton Gardens Warrington
The event features two fantastic tributes; Rod Stewart and Amy Winehouse as well as the famous singer Carly Ryan. Plus other special guests and a full supporting show including the Frogtastic DJ. Licensed bar available, bring your own food!

Wednesday 6th July

10.30am to 3.30pm: Ignite Your Life. Mental Health & Wellbeing Workshops & Exhibition
Arts Marquee, Walton Gardens.

7pm to 11pm: Mayor of Warrington's Evening of Culture
Arts Marquee, Walton Gardens
The event celebrates an array of cultures and nationalities from Asia, Africa and Europe, helping to strengthen the community bond. Visitors will be treated to live music including a Coptic Christian choir, stage performances as well as traditional and contemporary dance. With an impressive line-up of entertainments and a chance to sample different cuisine. (£10 per ticket, telephone Julia 01925 442143).

Thursday 7th July

1pm to 4pm: Carers Tea Party in the Park from Wired Carers
Arts Marquee, Walton Gardens

5.00pm to 7.00pm: Children’s Party in the Park
Walton Hall and Gardens
A partnership of local children and young people’s support groups present a fun filled evening for disabled children, disabled young people, their families and friends. one of the country's finest contesting bands and compete in the championship section (top level) of the British brass band league structure.

7.30pm to 11.30pm: The DAD Mega BBQ
Arts Marquee Walton Gardens Warrington
Teams of up to eight people for a fun quiz, a raffle with hundreds of pounds worth of prizes, and a hilarious session or two of stand up Bingo! There will be great food, a licensed bar and a fantastic charity auction
