Record Crowds

Figures for this years Disability Awareness Day 20th anniversary event have been confirmed. Over 5,500 people attended the series of events held during the week prior to DAD and over 28,000 attended the big day making this years DAD our best attended to date.

Joining hands across the world

Two days after this years DAD we received an email from The MESSAGE Institiute based in Jaipur Rajastan India sharing the news that they had succesfully held their first DAD on the 10th July in order to coincide with our event. Dave Thmopson DAD Co-ordinator has made contact and looks forward to building a lasting relationship between our organisations.

Sad News

Geoff Forgie founder and Chairman of the Shropshire Disability Network has sadly died on the 7th August. Geoff was a regular attendee at Disability Awareness Day and had an ambition to establish a Shropshire DAD. His plans to run an event this year were withdrawn at the last minute and Geoff and his team were looking forward to holding their first event in 2012. Everyone at DAD sends their condolences to Geoff's family and our open offer of support and advice to get Shropshire DAD up and running next year.

New Supporters

After the recent success of DAD 2011 we have been approached by two organisations interested in sponsoring next years DAD plus one of our new sponsors for 2011 is interested in increasing their involvement in next years event. Watch this space!

DAD Bus

Plans are in place to launch our new DAD bus in time for this year's International Day for Disabled People that will be held on the 3rd December. Network Warrington have agreed to prepare the artwork that will be used on one of their low level accessible buses.
