What's On for Disability Awareness Day?

Disability Awareness Day has five strands interwoven into a colourful and entertaining day out. Here is what is happening at DAD 2010. The free programme provided on the day will also give you full details.

Entertainments

The 2010 programme features Radio General, Dog Display Team, Ridgeside Falconry - Birds of Prey, Revive Dance School, Batala Liverpool Community Samba Band, Cheshire Cadets Drum Corps and much more.

Information

Nearly 500 spaces will be taken by this years exhibitors including organisations from the voluntary, statutory and business sectors all working to this years theme:- "Promoting Independence Throughout Life & Work", with support groups and services, equipment, transport, technology, holidays, benefits, employment, education, training, mobility, leisure, recreation, sport and much more.

Sports

This years Sports Zone includes have a go events with laser guided rifle shooting, archery, basketball, Giant Climbing Wall, The Cricket Factory, Beat the Goalie and the Inclusive Cycling Project. New for 2010 Scubability, bring your cozzie and take a dip in our onsite swimming pool with PADI approved scuba diving instructors! (a hoist and changing room will be available).Click here to register if you would like a go. Arts

The programme in this year’s Arts Marquee resembles a role call of nationally acclaimed artists. With Carly & Martin from BBC 3’s “Autistic Superstars, the Jill Fielding Band, Andrew Coleman, Dee Sign Choir transforming singing into sign, and Strictly Wheelchair Dancing. Top of the bill and fresh from their success at Glastonbury is Spaceships are Cool. All supported by the DAD Team.
New for 2010 is the Arts Gallery with a range of works produced by disabled people from across the UK.

For the Children

Children's Entertainment include something for all abilities with all the fun of the fair provided by Chadwick's Family Fairground Rides and the hugely popular Bouncy Castles. Professor Fiddlesticks will amaze you with his circus skills, Walton Hall Rangers will be pleased to see you visiting the Walton Hall Zoo, and Ridgeway Falconry will introduce you to their birds of prey.

As you can see it will be an action packed day for those many thousands of people who make their way to Walton Hall Gardens on the 11th!
