What's On for Disability Awareness Day?Disability Awareness Day has five strands interwoven into a colourful and entertaining day out. Here is what to expect at DAD 2008. EntertainmentsThe 2008 programme features Radio General, Guide Dog Display Team, Ridgeside Falconry - Birds of Prey, Revive Dance School's Dance Team & the Diamond Tappers, Road Safety Partnership, Batala Liverpool Community Samba Band, Warrington Sea Cadets Piping Display Team and much more.
InformationNearly 500 spaces have been taken by this years exhibitors including organisations from the voluntary, statutory and business sectors all working to this years theme:- "Promoting Independence Throughout Life & Work", with support groups and services, equipment, transport, technology, holidays, benefits, employment, education, training, mobility, leisure, recreation, sport and much more. SportsThis years Sports Zone includes have a go events with laser guided rifle shooting, archery, basketball, Giant Climbing Wall, Beat the Goalie and exhibitions from the Cycling Project and GB Wheelchair Rugby League Association. With the Melody Maker, a new initiative from The Heroes, Dee Sign Choir transforming singing into sign, January the winner of Granada Reports Northwest Talent Show, the outstanding team from Mencap and the hugely popular St Helens Gospel Choir, all supported by the DAD Team led by Phil, Hollie, Steve, Ivan and the Jill Fielding Band. Scott Barron and the International Arts Collaborative 'Joining Hands across the Water” project will be displaying materials produced in Japan and the UK, and the “Slice of Life” Film Festival will be hosted by the team at the Petty Pool Trust. For the ChildrenChildren's Entertainment include something for all abilities with the Indoor Inclusive Play Area operated by Scallywags to the fun of the fair provided by Chadwick's Family Fairground Rides and the hugely popular Super Slide. Professor Fiddlesticks will amaze you with his circus skills, Walton Hall Rangers will be pleased to see you visiting the Walton Hall Zoo and Heritage Centre, and Ridgeway Falconry will introduce you to their birds of prey. As you can see it will be an action packed day for those many thousands of people who make their way to Walton Hall Gardens on the 6th! "Be wise, be aware of disability". |
