DAD Week

The week leading up to Disability Awareness Day is always packed with supporting events.

Sat 2nd July

11.00 - 4.00pm Golden Square Warrington Town centre. Launch of DAD 2011 An Arts Showcase will be held in the Old Market Place, featuring disabled artists and friends of DAD, including Revive Dance School, ELLA- from Halton Speak Out, Stars Drama, Carly Ryan from "Autistic Superstars", Martin Finn also from " Autistic Superstars", Hollie Caddock and Warrington Male Voice Choir, and Tai Chi (website here). Sunday 3rd July

11 - 4pm Walton Hall Open Day Once the ancestral home of the Greenall family, Walton Hall is open to the public today. Warrington Disability partnership will be here to promote Disability Awareness Day and the Friends of Walton Estate will also be here showcasing the good work they do around the estate and to answer any questions they may have. The bar will be open for refreshments.

Tuesday 5th July

9.30am -12.30pm Positive Action Awareness Event for schools at Walton Hall in Warrington. Students from schools across the area will attend awareness events aimed at dispelling myths and mis-conceptions associated to disability and disabled people. 1pm-4pm Disability and Employment at Walton Hall. Employers from the Warrington area are invited to meet with local support agencies to discuss solutions for the recruitment and retention of disabled employees. For more details contact Derek Jones 01925 240064.

Wednesday 6th July

1pm - 4pm Tea in the tent, Bringing Carers and The Cared for together 1.00pm—4.00pm Inviting carers and cared for from Warrington, St Helens, Knowsley and Halton Carers Centres to our Royal Summer Street Party celebrating this years Royal Weddings. Entertainment by Paul Dee & The Carers Choir. Light refreshments available If you would like to join us and help make this year’s event a success, there is a coach leaving The Golden Gates at 12.30pm, returning from Walton Gardens at 3.45pm. Thursday 7th July

12.30 - 5pm Ignite Your Life - Mental Heath and Wellbeing Workshop and Exhibition in the Arts Marquee and Marquee 4, Walton Hall Gardens. The team from 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Foundation Trust offers a range of workshops and activities including music therapy, art, employment support, laughter therapy, chill out zone, complimentary therapies , healthy eating , and Tai Chi (website here)plus much more.See the programme here. 10am - 5pm - DAD at Walton Hall Gardens Europe's largest "not for profit" voluntary led disability exhibition. Over 300 exhibitors from voluntary, statutory, private and business organisations with hundreds of ideas for independent living supported by a fun packed day out for all the family.
