DAD Week

The week leading up to Disability Awareness Day is always packed with supporting events. Here is the timetable for 2008, More will be added soon so keep checking back!

Sat 28th June

11am - 5pm Golden Square Warrington Town centre. Launch of DAD 2008 An exciting programme of artists will launch this years event with a colourful display of performing arts that includes the Brinnington Samba Band, the Jill Fielding Band, St Helens Gospel Choir and much much more.For more details contact Phil Edwards on 01925 664057.

Mon 30th June

"Welcome to 5 Steps to Safety" - Accessible Transport Evacuation Training, Walton Hall, Warrington. 9:00am to 12 noon OR 1.00pm to 4.00pm. There are over 60,000 vehicles fires every year in the UK. This training will give people who have duty to protect the safety of themselves and their passengers the knowledge, experience and confidence to deal with an emergency in order to help prevent a serious tragedy occurring. Tuesday 1st July

10am - 1pm Positive Action Awareness Event for schools at Walton Hall in Warrington. Students from schools across the area will attend an awareness event aimed at dispelling myths and mis-conceptions associated to disability and disabled people. For more details contact Derek Jones 01925 240064.

Wednesday 2nd July

1pm - 4pm Carer's Party in the Park, Arts Marquee Walton Hall Gardens. Organised by staff from the Princess Royal Trust, Warrington Carers Centre. An afternoon of culture, music and entertainment for carers and the people they care for. Advance booking required contact Jenny Readman 01925 644212

6.30pm - 9pm Party in the Park for disabled children and young disabled people at Marquee 3 Walton Hall Gardens Organised by Planet Blue the event offers sports, arts and crafts and a music therapy workshop. For more details contact Naomi Cheetham 01925 240064

Thursday 3rd July

10am - 4pm Mental Heath and Wellbeing Workshops at the Arts Marquee and Marquee 3, Walton Hall Gardens. The team from the nationally acclaimed Richmond fellowship offer a range of workshops and activities including music therapy, employment support, and much much more. Friday 4th July

10am - 4pm Wheelchair skills Workshop for disabled children and young disabled people at Evelyn Street School Warrington. Sunday 6th July

10am - 5pm - DAD at Walton Hall Gardens Europe's largest "not for profit" voluntary led disability exhibition. Over 280 exhibitors from voluntary, statutory, private and business organisations with hundreds of ideas for independent living supported by a fun packed day out for all the family.
