The 2014 awards went to...

The A.LE.X Project Macclesfield

These winners are a volunteer led organisation who give their time, support, advice, wellbeing and independence to those suffering with Parkinson's. The project gives a lot of pleasure and fills a huge gap for those who are isolated. They also have to fundraise to keep the project going and have had very good outcomes over the years and hopefully years to come.

Lawrence Smith

This winner is a man who takes his time out to care for disabled and older people who are sick and are unable to get out of the house. Lawrence has worked with disabled adults before retiring. Lawrence visits people in his local community who are unable to get to mass giving communion at home, alongside this he visits and phones offering support and help to get shopping and items and visits people just to see how people are. He started visiting his nominator when she got cancer and has been a great support over the past 10 years when they first met Lawrence when Bruna's mother in law was ill. Lawrence was nominated for an award as a thank you for all his support to Mr and Mrs Gunshon's family and the many of other people he visits in the Irlam and Cadishead area.

Penny O'Hare

Penny lost her Dad, grandma, grandad and aunty who all passed away in a short space of time. She has supported her mother as a carer and has devoted her life to her Mum's charity which she founded in 2005. Penny is a very important person within the charity she is always there for the members and volunteers. She goes above and beyond what anyone else offers. She gives 150%, nothing is ever too much trouble. She provides a fantastic activities programme, social events, day trips plus so much more. We all love her so much and our lives are all so much richer for having her in it. Penny looks after our beautiful Cancer Support centre and always makes sure it is ready for us. She took some of our volunteers away Camping to Wales they had a fantastic time as a thank you for their devotion to the charity. She also arranges a Glamping holiday and drives a minibus when we need it. Words are not enough to say thank you to this special young lady who has dedicated her life for people affected by cancer in Warrington.
